Why we do not use overlay widgets
Accessibility overlays add a JavaScript layer over broken HTML but do not fix the underlying issues. Screen readers still encounter the same problems beneath the overlay. We fix accessibility at the source code level -- in our HTML, ARIA attributes, and CSS -- for genuine, verifiable compliance.
Our Commitment
Annie Lipscomb is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We continually improve the user experience for everyone and apply the relevant accessibility standards. Our website has been built and audited to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice as the benchmark for ADA Title III compliance.
Accessible Features
Keyboard Navigation
Every interactive element on this site is reachable and operable via keyboard. Tab order follows a logical reading sequence.
Screen Reader Support
All content is structured with semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, and accessible names so that screen readers can convey page structure and meaning.
Color Contrast
Text and interactive elements maintain a minimum 4.5:1 contrast ratio against background colors, meeting WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
Reduced Motion Support
Animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion operating system setting, reducing or eliminating motion for users who need it.
Form Accessibility
All form fields have associated labels, error messages are programmatically linked to their fields, and validation feedback is announced to assistive technology.
Skip Navigation
A skip-to-main-content link is available as the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation.
